With the franchise going on for 16 years it has become too overwhelming for the existing audience. So just try to imagine how confusing it can get for someone who wants to step into the fandom new. They have produced 9 movies in 16 years and most have been shown in the past or the future but not in the present.
People want a reboot or the end. Firstly, people want it due to the movies still being set from 16 years ago along with the clothes being set from 16 years ago too.
