I’m sure if you are a fan of the Game of Thrones, you have already watched the “The Door” episode by now. However, if you are still lagging behind STOP READING RIGHT NOW. SPOILER ALERT!
“Hold the door”, one character cries into the night, as another one loses their life, in one of the show’s most shattering hours. One of the happiest moments in Game of Thrones history was produced in “Book of the Stranger” where Jon Snow and Sansa Stark reunited. Now, one week later, the Emmy-winning series came back to delver one of the most devastating blows the show has ever produced. Such is Westeros. While the heart breaking death of a major fan-favorite character is top of the mind at the moment, there were several other major pieces reverberating through the episode. Hold onto your socks, here are five of the episode’s key moments.
1. Children of Men: Bran Stark was the soul of all the hour’s most momentous occasions, beginning far in the past with the White Walker origin story. The Children of the Forest created the Walkers shoving dragon glass into human hearts and turning man to monster. In his second vision of the episode, Bran returns to the site of the White Walkers’ birthplace, this time in the present and there he encounters the Night’s King. He comes in physical contact with the frozen monster. Bran wakes up in the cave with forearms boasting of the Night’s King’s fingerprints seared into his flesh, a mark that allows the King to find the Raven’s cave. Would this allow him to keep tabs on Bran moving forward?
2. Summer is Going: An arrow from the episode that strikes the heart is the demise of one of Bran’s most reliable companions. Two weeks after losing Rickon Stark’s dire wolf Shaggydog, viewers were forced to part ways with snore of the Stark siblings’ pups, this time, Summer who is killed in the raid on the cave. Now, only two of the original dire wolves remain: Jon Snow’s Ghost and Arya Stark’s Nymeria. I don’t think I can deal with any more dire wolf deaths at this point.
