Cancer Cells:
Our cells wage wars inside of our body everyday. Although these tiny cells are too small to be seen without the help of microscopes, they are capable of overtaking any organ in our body.
These are cancer cells and they are continuously declaring their presence inside our body. Our immune system neutralizes them and gets them out most of the time.
But this process is not always successful as cancer cells have the power to attack your brain, liver, lungs and many other important organs. So it’s not just one disease they can induce.
Heart Cancer:
But there is good news. Heart cancer almost doesn’t exist. Most of the hospitals report maximum one heart cancer a year. So why is heart cancer so rare? Here, we have to remember that cancer cells’ principle power is their power to divide and multiply.
The problem starts when their growth goes beyond control and they take over everything. Cells usually stop replicating following the instructions encoded in their DNA but cancerous cells keep replicating against the memo.
Difference:
Heart-cells are different. The dividing and replicating process in this case occur during fetal development. But sometimes tumors form in fetuses while these heart cells are still dividing. When we are born, our heart-cells stop dividing and even if there was a tumor, it stops growing at this point.
This happens because mostly muscle cells make up our hearts and these cells can grow in proportion to our bodies but unlike other cells in our bodies they multiply in a different way.
Casualties:
If the DNA is damaged, every cell of our body has the chance to become abnormal. So, few abnormal cells like the cancer cells are okay because our immune system can take care of them. Sometimes these cells form lumps which can be harmless but sometimes they prove otherwise.
Because our heart cells divide very little, harmful cells are less likely to occur or form cancer. So heart cancer can only occur if you have cancer in another organ and it spreads through the bloodstream to the heart or if it affects babies who got the disease while still in womb.
