The Panamanian lawyer, who has managed to humiliate quite a lot of world leaders due to a recent data leak scandal claims that the entire incident was an outside job. Ramon Fonseca, the founding partner said that the operations of the firm- Mossack Fonseca, that helps people set up offshore companies, are all legal. He also claimed that the company did not, in any way, help anyone elude taxes or embezzle any money. Moreover, he believes that the company e-mails that were published by the U.S.-based International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and other media were vastly misinterpreted.
The company has filed the appropriate complaints to the Attorney General’s Office, and certain government organizations are also looking over the case. The company has around 500 employees, of which 300 work in Panama, the rest of the company’s franchise or structure remains unknown because no one wanted to comment on it.
The leaked papers exposed financial planning of important figures, which includes people who have close ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the prime ministers of Britain, the president of China, Pakistan, and that of Ukraine.
On the other hand, on Tuesday, France declared that they would put the Central American nation back on its blacklist due to disobliging tax jurisdictions.
