On March 27, two amateur astronomersGerrit fromMödling, Austria and John Mckeon, from Dublin, Ireland observed a great flash on the atmosphere of Jupitar. They were just simply observing the planet and they came across such footage by distant odds. They reported about it approximately around the same time. Though, only to discover the footage was from 10 days back. The event took place on March 17. Gerrituploaded flashing event on internet soon after.
Jupitar is one of the largest planet and gaseous giant of our Solar System. Much like a guardian it has been protecting Earth since the beginning, with attracting many dangerous Meteors and Asteroid. Its huge size comes with greater gravitational force that pulls in roaming space rocks into it, even before it may come close to earth. The event was impactful for Jupitar.Researchers are also calculating whether, the space rock could be a threat to earth. Or is it bringing more friends along with in the path. For now, Astronomer Phil Plait has confirmed the space body was an asteroid, about 10 meter long.
Similar big asteroid smashing events occurred back in 2009 and 2010, that was observed by another amateur astronomer Anthony Wesley and confirmed by amateur astronomer Christopher Go. The reason each time they observed a significant flash of light during those events, is role of the high gravitational force. If one space body was to hit Jupitar, the Kinetic Force of that meteor of asteroid would 25 times greater than if the event took place on earth. Hence, resulting in huge release of energy on impact.
