2015 was definitely the year of Fashion breakthroughs and young models turning into supermodels. The year was dominated by the likes of the Jenner sisters, Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne’s eyeborws, and the KKK (Kardashian Klan Kids). Along with their stardom, they brought a wide array of new (and some recycled) fashion trends. So let us look at some of the biggest fashion hits of the fabulous 2015!
• Jumpsuits: 2015 was the year when people ran to ADC Empire Plaza and scoured all the online stores for different colored jumpsuits. It was totally the in thing last year, and jumpsuit was the dress code for every birthday or hangout.
• Nudes: No, I am not talking about celebrity photo leaks. I am talking about the getup Kylie Jenner seems to rock: all neutrals and bare. 2015 was the year when the minimalists rejoiced because their everyday look became the trend of the year. The year’s makeup was all about nude lips, charcoals and browns on the eyes, and beige-greige shoes/sweaters/pants/everything.
• Stacked rings: I am not sure if Forever 21 invented this trend or not but almost everyone I know got their stacked rings from this shop. Wearing 5 or 6 simple light-golden colored rings with infinity or heartbeat designs was all the hype last year (And I hope it still is because I have not got around to buying them yet).
• Fringes everywhere: 2015 brought out the boho-chic in everyone. Somehow, everyone on the streets of America and of course all the fashion-conscious girls here in Bangladesh were sporting fringed outfits. The trend became of famous that it actually went bonkers! People started putting fringes on everything starting from tops and sweaters to shoes and ornas.
• Capes: If you have super trendy and fashion-conscious friend then you will know what I am talking about. The trend had transcended from Hollywood, then into Bollywood, and somehow creeped into the closets of the Bangladeshi girls. I love how our desi girls found new and unique ways of pulling off the cape, for instance: the cape blouse.
• White blouse: There is something really chic and elegant about a simple white blouse. I love how you can sport it in various occasions, starting from a day out with friends to a serious office meeting.
• Boyfriend jeans: This was the undoubtedly takes the best street fashion trophy for me. Gone are the days when tattered clothes meant you are a hobo; ripped apart jeans are the shizz now. Pair your favorite light blue, slightly faded boyfriend jeans with a white top and and cute pair of boots or snickers and you are good to go! However, I did see some girls rocking folded jeans with the classic pointy black heels too.
• Crop tops: I know it sounds a little risqué for the typical Bengali girl, but boy did our girls pull it off to perfection! They rocked it with waist high jeans, long floral skirts, and cute chiffon palazzos.
