With all the hype going around of Oculus VR Goggles, expectations are high and producers are scrambling for last minutes modifications to the tech. If your one of the many thousands lining up to buy this new fad, be ready to strap on a black 1.5 pound mask to your face and experience at out of body effect that just might leave you puking. There’s also a chance that you might fall over or get tangled in the 13 foot cord which comes with the lens to attach it to your PC. Then too, there’s the damage that’s going to affect your eyes, well duh!
There was bound to be a degree of damage considering that your going to have a an amo led computer screen just inches nay centimeters in front of your eyes. Be happy if you’re not blind in a few months of continuous usage of being on top of Mt. Everest or battling a dinosaur.
I’m sure this is not what Mark Zukerberg intended when he bought the VR tech in its prototype stage back in 2014 for 2 billion dollars- or is it? The Rift is set to be launched this week at the whopping price of $599 and a limited use of games and videos.
Zukerberg says that he sees incredible potential in this new technology, from communication to education all is
possible from any corner of the world.
But we ask can a starving child in Uganda afford this tech at $599; can most of the world afford it?
Zukerberg still has a long way to go if he wants to make this technology affordable and available to the masses.
