The reason why humans have big noses

One can only theorize that the fact that humans, being a more evolutionary form that succeeds primates have developed physical attributes that attribute to helping them adapt to their surroundings. Although some researchers believe that the shape and size of the human nose has been shaped over the centuries as a result of change in different facial structures, others seem to amuse the idea that it might have been pivotal for natural selection.
The nose is supposed to act as an “air conditioner” which helps to filter out dust and makes the air clean and humid enough for the delicate linings of your lungs. But according to recent studies, scientists have concluded that the human nose doesn’t really do its job as an air-conditioner very well.
According to the research, primates such as apes or monkeys have better air-conditioning functions ever though noses are smaller in size and shape. This study involved human and chimpanzee volunteers and passing cold, humid and wet air through their noses. The results concluded that the other primates breathed in air more effectively than the humans even when human noses were flattened using a computer-model program.
Rigorous research has shown that the human skull went through restructuring over the last 2 or 3 million years and it is also believed that this may have also been due to the various climates and changes that Neanderthals had to face.
