Stolen newborn rescued in Khulna; 2 held

Police rescued a newborn boy from a private hospital in the city on Friday, a day after he was stolen from another hospital. The law enforcers also arrested a couple — Nasima Begum Shabana, 35, and her husband Abdul Mannan Jamaddar, 45, in this connection. Hailing from Barisal district, the couple used to reside at Aichgati village in Rupsha upazila. Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, officer in-charge of Khulna Sadar Police Station, said Nasima and Mannan took the newborn to ‘Medipath Clinic and Diagnostic Centre’ at Santidham intersection in the city, stating that he fell sick after the birth through cesarean section.
