Bees do more than just producing honey. Statistically, one in three bites of food you put in your mouth while having your meal is the hard work done by these wee little creatures. They pollinate hundreds of plants which make their way to the dinner table every single day. So we hardly wonder if bees- one of the most miraculous and necessary insects become extinct due to human’s unsustainable habits, and Earth’s menu would change dramatically as well. Sadly, bees are dying off at a more alarming rate than expected.
People worldwide have been doing what they in their parts as saving these little creatures, from planting trees with flowers that bees like to visit to petitioning the governments to stop using pesticides and sometimes keeping bees themselves. Morgan Freeman, being one of the most important acting figures in Hollywood, is no way behind and has been making headlines about saving bees and spending on them.
Last year, Freeman discussed his plan on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to house 26 hives of bees on his ranch of 124 acre in Mississippi. “There’s a concerted effort to bring bees back onto the planet. We do not realize that they are the foundation, I think, of the growth of the planet, the vegetation. I have so many flowering things, and I have a gardener too. Because she takes care of the bees too, all she does is figure out, ‘Ok, what would they like to have?’, so we’ve got acres and acres of clover, we’re planting stuff like lavender, I’ve got like, maybe 140 magnolia trees, big blossoms, “ Freeman said in the interview with MMN.
