Police arrested a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami from his house at Surat village in Sadar upazila early Saturday in connection with several cases.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Hasan Hafizur Rahman said tipped off, a team of police conducted a raid on the house of Matiur Rahman, ammer of Sadar thana unit of Jamaat, in the dead of night and arrested him.
Police arrested the Jamaat leader in a case filed for vandalising a Liberation War sculpture, the OC added.
