Minister threatens actions against hajj agencies

    Minister for Religious Affairs Principal Matiur Rahman yesterday said stringent actions would be taken if any hajj agency cheats any pilgrim or tries to involve in corruption over the holy hajj.
    He issued the warning at a discussion marking the training of officials and employees on pre-registration of intending hajj pilgrims at Ashkona Hajj Camp at Uttara.
    The ministry for religious affairs and Saudi e-hajj organized the pre- registration training, said an official release.
    Presided over by Religious Affairs Additional Secretary M. Shahiduzzaman, the meeting was also addressed by Religious Affairs Secretary M Abdul Jalil, Hajj Office Director Dr. Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal, Business Automation Chief Executive Zahidul Hassan Mitul and Hajj Association of Bangladesh (HAB) President Ibrahim Bahar, among others. The minister said different agencies and individuals try to adopt unfair means during the hajj season. But this year, no excuse would be allowed, he said and warned those who are thinking of indulging in irregularities during this year’s hajj.
