Detectives in a drive arrested eight alleged members of an inter-district robber gang from Matuail in city’s Jatrabari area early Monday. Tipped off, a team of DB (East) police, led by Zayed Shahrier, senior assistant police commissioner, conducted a drive in the area and arrested the eight alleged gang members while taking preparation to commit robbery in the guise of DB police around 4:16 am. Police also recovered some weapons, walkie-talkies, handcuffs, DB jackets and seized a microbus. The arrestees were Shahidul Islam Majhi alias Shaheed alias Quamrul Majhi, Yusuf Quazi, Abdul Malek, Malek Chowdhury, Jahangir Alam alias Jahangir and Other.
