    O father,
    When death struck you,
    When darkness veiled you,
When life’s day was done – when angels gathered to carry thy soul to hereafter,
Curse did not come upon thy lips!
    You lay still
On the stairs, on a pool of blood,
    So intense and warm!
    Your vision got blurred
    As your tongue got stoned.

The ultimate moments were quiet and tranquil, for it was thy journey time!
The final sojourn to the other world!
O father, no one heard thee, whispering your wishes!

The assassins bullets pierced your heart,
The heart which always prayed for the
    Children of the soil –
    Your beloved Bengalis.
You lived for them, you wept for them!
Alas ! Now you lie and wait for
    death, only for them!

    I know, O father!
    While you passed away ,
    Soothing were your inner wishes!
O the blessed one, you prayed for us!
    Your Bengalis were so dear!
    So close to your heart!

    I know,
    There were no pain,
Only tears rolled down for us, your beloved ones.
    You cried for us
    Who were to become orphans,
World stopped for us, O leader.
For the first time in history,
    Bengalis wept in unison.

On the occasion of 41st death anniversary of Bangabondhu and his family.(August 15th, 2016).
