Every time I hear the phrase “smart home,” my minds spin straight to a house where everything is somehow related to modern science and technology. We yearn for the next-level automation and connectivity the futuristic abode offers to make our sweet home easier for us to operate and stay in.
1. Get creative with hiding cords: Cords are ugly and make our home look clumsy. Although we are headed to a wireless world yet we’re not quite there. If you’re working with a desk or shelf, attach binder clips to the back and then run the cords through the clip to keep them away from creating a mess. For outlets and wires that just hang or lie on the ground, invest in a decorative basket or box and simply store the clutter away. If possible, just try to buy cords that match the color of your surrounding and allow them to camouflage.
2. Only show off what doesn’t show: Large speakers and a space occupied by a big, black television set are a thing of the past. Today’s technology is sleek and seamlessly integrated. Rather than showing off your electronic devices it is better if you keep them at a place from where they don’t stick out like a sore thumb. A subtle show is always a wiser option.
3. Invest in a high-quality Wi-Fi router: No, I don’t mean you have to show off your router (Although some are very well decorated and fits well with the décor) but implanting a good router will be beneficial. Installing a high-quality Wi-Fi router is going to be imperative to keeping your system running most efficiently.
4. The future is function: The idea of a smart home technology is moving fast, so as you’re investing in tech and interior design that will hide the less beautiful parts of your devices, consider what’s still to come — and what you can do to accommodate accordingly.
