There is no denying that how important mobile phones are to us. Specially smartphones have become 2nd need after oxygen among the teens. If you are a Bangladeshi teen you can probably relate to your parents’ warnings like, “Don’t keep it too long near your ears, it might cause you go deaf or even get brain cancer.” Fortunately to all these teens and the worrying parents, no linkage between phones and cancer. A 30 years long study suggests so. Interestingly they chose such time period so it would cover the time of the first introduction of mobile phones to us.
Researchers group from Australia surveyed data of 19,858 men and 14,222 women, gathered between 1982 and 2013. That is of freaking 3 decades! Even to legitimize their work they also used other two studies done back in 2011 and 2015. They all showed the same conclusion, of finding no evidence of cell phones causing brain cancer.
Sadly, there has been rise of cancer among people that before. Though they ultimately failed proved the connection between mobile phones and brain cancer. But the scientists believe it has more to do with our lifestyle than just using or over-using of mobile phones. Last time I checked, my old man still struggles about sending sms via mobiles. Lead researcher Simon Chapman noted the same facts at ‘The Conversation’.
Chapman and his colleagues’ final report concluded to the ‘Cancer Epidemiology’ that, “We found no increase in brain cancer incidence compatible with the steep increase in mobile phone use.”
