Do As You Sell, Not As You Do

Of all the journalistic five W’s you have heard, here’s one that will make you set your mind race straight towards lurking around the products that your favorite celebs want you to have. Or things they want to sell.

After the much puffed up Maria Sharapova’s meldonium incident, she has almost been arrested after being accused of drugs. Eventually, it turned out to be her as the face of diabetes who sells a candy company named “Sugarprova”.

So this time, in order to prove its viability, propublica.org skipped the newspaper and went straight to New York University and apparently found that the celebs are as zealous as athletes to lure you towards dangerous products.
    Here’s how they classified it:
    What?
A survey conducted in 2013 showed that athletes endorse for you food that you would never feed to your Labrador. Most of the non-alcoholic drinks are mostly sweetened with sugar and the diet food were “energy dense and nutrient poor.” Which meant it was the exact opposite of good for you.
    Who?
The top endorsers of these food and drink were will.i.am, Baauer, Maroon 5, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Jessie J.
Pepsi was the most proficient product. Only Taylor Swift endorsed Diet Coke! #squadgoals.
Snoop Dogg endorsed Hot Pockets and Monster Energy.
    What else?
The food is usually scored by researchers according to nutrient profile index (NPI). A low score normally means a foodstuff has masses of calories and inadequate dietary value. In UK, a food must score more than 64 before being permitted to be given to children.
    Who else?
Jessie J (McDonald’s, Pop Tarts, Cadbury’s) backed products with the lowest average NPI score. Usher (Honey Nut Cheerios, Twix) and Shakira (Pepsi, Activia) endorsed the highest average NPI products.
    They Said It:
The Martians or the NYU scientists said “Celebrity ads appear to be popular…”
