Almost overflowing with cutesy-sexiness, a lot of people were expecting Oh My Venus to become the rom-com of the year. Even more so because of So Ji Sub and Shin Min Ah’s electrifying chemistry. Unfortunately, due to some minor glitches, it couldn’t live up to the viewer’s expectations.
Kim Young-ho, a.k.a John Kim, grew up in a wealthy family, and is a personal trainer who works for Hollywood stars. He suffered a devastating illness in his childhood. Kang Joo-eun, in her teens, was almost famous for her pretty face and enviable figure. Now she’s a 33 year old lawyer who is a bit too chubby for her own good. Through many turn of events, the two meet and start working on Joo-eun’s physical transformation. They eventually start feeling more than they want to admit.
The show mainly focuses on fitness and health, and somewhere in between that, they build a cute romance within the two leads played by Shi Min Ah and So Ji Sub.
From the moment Joo Eun appears on the screem, I fell in love with her straightforward and no-nonsense personality.
I loved how even though she was the most popular girl in town, she did not use her looks to gain any unfair advantage. What was even better was how, even after her drastic weight gain, she still remained the same sassy, and candid person throughout the story. In a drama environment where outward appearance is placed on such a pedestal, I found her attitude very refreshing.
