Double delight for Jahir

DOT Desk: Jahir wasn’t all that disappointed after missing out on the opportunity to create a national record in the 200m.
Jahir Raihan was an extremely happy man Saturday after claiming gold medal in the 200m at the National Athletics Championship at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka, to go with his gold in the 400m, reports The Dhaka Tribune.
After clinching the double, Jahir said, “I grew a bit tired after creating the record (in 400m) Friday, my muscles became weak. I also had the opportunity to create a record (in the 200m Saturday) but my last steps weren’t quite upto the mark. I didn’t sleep well (Friday night), woke up from sleep a few times. Actually it takes two-three days to recover after a 400m race.”
Jahir wasn’t all that disappointed after missing out on the opportunity to create a national record in the 200m.
BKSP’s Jahir Raihan was the star of the National Athletics Championship on the second day at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka Friday as he broke a 32-year national record in the 400m.
He said, “I am not frustrated with this (record). Like the previous edition, I have also won two golds in this edition, including a record. I want to do even better in future.”
After doing well consistently in the local arena, Jahir is now eyeing good displays in the international scene.
“I want to do well in the 400m in the international arena. And if I get the chance, take part in the 200m,” he concluded.
