Avoid using excessive pesticide in vegetable cultivation: Khasru

    DOT Desk: State minister for fisheries and livestock Md Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru urged farmers to avoid excessive use of pesticide in vegetable farming as well to be refrained from marketing premature vegetables, reports The New Age. The minister came up with the call while visiting the three-day National Vegetable Fair 2019 at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in the city’s Farmgate area.
    Stressing on the need to promote the farming of organic vegetable across the country, the minister said, ‘The authorities concerned of agriculture ministry should motivate people to farm vegetables in organic way.’
    He also requested the authorities concerned to organise such fair in the upazila level.
    The state minister also called upon people to cultivate safe vegetables in and around their houses as well as on the rooftop.
    Meanwhile, the state minister distributed awards and certificates among agriculturists and farmers for their contribution to vegetable farming.
    Earlier on Thursday, agriculture minister M Abdur Razzaque inaugurated the three-day fair.
    The organisers said they have sold vegetables worth of Tk 22 lakh in the fair where a total of 68 stalls had been set up.
