DOT Desk: The Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh organised a
solo musical performance of noted Nazrul Giti singer Shushmita Anis in the
capital.
The event was part of the EU’s policy, adopted in 2016, to encourage cultural cooperation between the union and its partner countries, reports The New Age.
The Delegation also paid respect to the work of the national poet of Bangladesh through the event.
Singer Shushmita Anis, who was a pupil of legendary singer the late Firoza Begum, presented a wide array of famous pieces of Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam for a selected group of audience.
The audience comprised local politicians, diplomats stationed in Bangladesh as well as Bangladeshi music connoisseurs.
The audience highly appreciated the performance.
The European Union deemed that intercultural dialogue could build and promote understanding within and between societies, said a press release on Monday.
It also helped promote a global order based on peace, the rule of law, freedom of expression, mutual understanding and respect for fundamental values.
