DOT Desk: A contract was signed on Thursday between Chattogram City Corporation and Bangladesh Municipal Development Fund aiming to construct a kitchen market in the port city’s Faillatoli area, reports The New Age BD.
CCC chief executive officer Md Shamsuddoha and BMDF managing director Syed Hasinur Rahman signed the contract on behalf of their organisations.
The contract signing ceremony was held at CCC conference room.
As per the contract, a four-storey building would be constructed on 30.84 acres of land at a cost of Tk 20 crore 69 lakh.
Among the total cost, the World Bank would bear 90 per cent costs and rest 10 per cent would be given by CCC.
There would be constructed parking area, shops, super shops, health care centre, swimming pool and other office in the kitchen market.
Addressing the contract signing ceremony, Chattogram city mayor A J M Nasir Uddin said that gradually the port city would become a planned city by proper implementation of different development works.
CCC had conducted drives to evict the hawkers who were doing their businesses occupying roads and footpaths, the mayor said.
CCC would fix time, place and items which the hawker would be able to sale in their vans, he added.
The government had taken initiative to construct a sports complex at Bakalia, near the bank of the River Karnaphuli, he informed.
CCC secretary Abul Hossain, chief engineer Lieutenant Colonel Mohiuddin Ahmed, additional chief engineer Rafiqul Islam, executive engineer Jashim Uddin and BMDF managing director Syed Hasinur Rahman also spoke at the programme.
