Barrister Tanjib-ul Alam speaks to DOT :
TIB in its survey found that 82 percent fake votes were cast. To me, their survey is not in keeping with the reality. You cannot come to a conclusion after visiting three or four polling centres. You went to a polling centre and found some anomalies. Then you cannot paint a picture of whole country. The statistics presented by the ant-graft watchdog is not complete.TIB urged the judiciary to take necessary steps based on its survey. This demand has no base. The aggrieved contestants taking part in the elections can easily file a case with the election tribunal with regard to their grievances. The tribunal will decide if the aggrieved contestants can present evidence in support of their grievances.
There is no such rule to probe into allegations based on the TIB report. Moreover, it is customary to complain if a contestant cannot win. To me, TIB report is not informative. Therefore, we cannot accept it. Based on an interview by Khairul Alam, translated by Sayeed Muhamma. Barrister Tanjib-ul Alam is a Lawyer of Supreme Court.
