Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda has rejected Transparency International Bangladesh’s (TIB) report on the 11th parliamentary election held on December 30 last year.
“We are completely rejecting the TIB report on election. It is baseless,” the CEC said while talking to reporters at his office after a programme in Dhaka yesterday.
The global anti-graft watchdog in a report published on Tuesday said various electoral irregularities took place in 47 out of 50 constituencies in the 11th parliamentary polls.
CEC Huda said there is no similarity of the TIB report with the reports published in newspaper and accounts of other observers during the election day.

“We did not get any irregularity from the information provided by election enquiring committee, executive magistrates and election commission officials,” he maintained.

The CEC also expressed his resentment on a TIB official who said the Election Commission failed to act neutrally and the role of some polling officers and law enforcement agencies were biased.

“The speech is unsatisfactory. He (TIB official) should not say this,” Nurul Huda said.
