    Sayeed Muhammad of DOT :
The Dhaka-Aricha Highway was blocked for four hours after a Dhaka North City Corporation staff allegedly assaulted a female readymade garments worker in the wake of an altercation yesterday morning.
The worker received injuries in the incident with the blockade leading to a 10-kilometre tailback formed on both sides of the highway, reports The Daily Star. The RMG worker of Bando Apparels was taken to Shaheed Suhrwardy Medical Hospital, confirmed Abdul Awal, officer-in-charge of Savar Model Police Station.
“A female worker of our factory was assaulted by a city corporation worker in the morning,” said Milton Kazi, manager (compliance) of Bando Apparels Ltd.
The incident occurred when a vehicle carrying the factory workers and a city corporation vehicle slightly hit each other in Gabtoli area.
At one point, a city corporation worker, whose name could not be known immediately, hit the RMG worker and this lead the RMG workers to block the Dhaka-Aricha highway from 8:30am.
Police officials managed to free the highway around four hours later, said Abdul Awal.
