Dipu Moni asks educational institutions not to take extra fees

    Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni has requested authorities of educational institutions not to charge additional admission fees to students, warning stern action if the directive is not followed, The Daily Star reported.
    “Tougher action will be taken if anyone is found charging extra fees to students…taking additional fees during admission and other examinations are totally illegal,” she said while speaking with local journalists at Sadar upazila in Chandpur.
    Earlier, she exchanged greetings with the common people of different unions of her electoral constituency. She expressed hope that the educational institutions would follow the rules regarding student admissions and examinations.
    Dipu Moni, also joint general secretary of Awami League, claimed that the education sector in the country experienced substantial improvements in the last 10 years, promising that the government would take every necessary step to continue efforts in this regard.
    For this, she sought cooperation from everyone.
    AL district unit president and municipality mayor Nasir Uddin Ahmed, its general secretary Abu Noeem Patwari Dulal, and AL Sadar upazila president Nurul Islam Nazim and its general secretary Ali Arshad Miazi, among others, were present during this.
