DOT Desk: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has demanded the withdrawal of the politically driven cases against Jhenaidah 4 BNP candidate and his unconditional release from jail, reports The Dhaka Triibune. He stated this is a statement posted on BNP’s official social media site Facebook page on Thursday.
The senior BNP leader has expressed anger over the refusal of granting bail to Saiful Islam Firoz— Jhenaidah 4 BNP candidate and Jatiyatabadi Swechhasebak Dal Central Committee’s Senior Joint General Secretary— and his imprisonment, while he went to his regular appearance before the court on Wednesday.
In the statement, Fakhrul said: “The Awami league government has been sending the activists of BNP, including other opposition parties to jail under false cases to prolong their autocratic regime.”
“The ruling party wants to eradicate BNP, therefore, Saiful Islam Firoz has not been granted bail and sent to jail as he was the victim of the political vengeance,” he added.
