Dhaka Metropolitan Police claimed yesterday that they arrested the youth who set fire to a police vehicle near Bangladesh Nationalist Party office at Naya Paltan in the capital during a clash between the police and BNP activists on November 14, 2018.
“Pallabi police arrested the youth named Wasim, 28, today. He set fire to the car with a match box,” DMP additional deputy commissioner (media) Md Obaidur Rahman told New Age yesterday.
On November 14 during BNP’s third day of nomination paper sale, a conflict erupted between the police and BNP activists in Dhaka, which left dozens, including cops, injured and a number of vehicles burnt.
The clashes erupted in front of BNP central office at Naya Paltan when police reportedly tried to make way for traffic through crowds of leaders and activists who gathered there.
