Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has again held BNP responsible for its absolute debacle in the 11th national election held on December 30 last year.
“The BNP indulged in nomination trade and put its nominations on auction. Many competent BNP candidates who had good prospects of winning the polls were left out of the election,” Hasina said, reports The Daily Star.
How those who indulged in nomination trade and put the nomination on auction expect that people would vote for them, Hasina questioned pointing finger at BNP’s acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman.
The party misappropriated orphans’ money, indulged in corruption and acts of terrorism including arson attack and thus people did not accept them in the last parliamentary polls.
Hasina, also president of the ruling Awami League, was addressing a programme at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in Dhaka yesterday afternoon.
The programme was organised on the
occasion of the Homecoming Day of the architect of the country’s independence Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The great leader had returned to independent Bangladesh via London and New Delhi on January 10 in 1972 after 290 days of captivity in a Pakistan jail.
