DOT Desk: Top brass of Jatiya Oikyafront today reached a decision that they would hold a national dialogue to hold a fresh national election under a nonpartisan caretaker government, reports The Daily Star.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir came up with the announcement while talking to reporters after a meeting at Dr Kamal Hossain’s Baily Road residence in Dhaka this evening.
“We will file case with the election tribunal presenting facts of fraudulence, ballot stuffing and violence took place in the December 30 national election,” Fakhrul said.
The top leaders of the Oikyafront will visit the areas those were affected in the election violence, the BNP leader said.
As per the decision, the Oikyafront leader will visit Balaganj upazila in Sylhet by the next week, he added. However, Fakhrul also spokesperson of the Oikyafront, did not mention when and how the dialogue will be held.
Gonoforum President Kamal Hossain, Jatiya Samastantrik Dal President ASM Rob, Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, Krishak Shramik Janata League President Abdul Kader Siddique and other top leaders of the Oikyafront were present at the meeting.
Earlier in the day, Fakhrul rejected the newly formed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina led 47-member cabinet saying that it is “nothing but ridiculous”.
“People did never accept the polls result. And forming parliament and cabinet based on the result is nothing but a ridiculous matter,” Fakhrul made the remarks while addressing a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka.
Responding to a query, the BNP leader said they have rejected the polls result and formation of the parliament as well. “Now, we are completely rejecting the cabinet.”
