New study suggests that we are not the single civilization in this whole wide universe. After all, there are ten-billion-trillion inhabitable planets existing right at the point of telescope vision by the Drake’s equation (introduced in 1961). Adam Frank and Woodruff Sullivan from the Universities of Rochester and Washington just published their writing stating such facts in Astrobiology.
They talk about recent discovery of dozens of exoplanets to hypothesize, unless there aren’t any advanced life evolving in any of those then “human kind is not the universe’s first technological, or advanced, civilization.”
The journal reads, “One in 10 billion trillion is incredibly small. To me, this implies that other intelligent, technology producing species very likely have evolved before us. We didn’t know how many of those stars had planets that could potentially harbor life, how often life might evolve and lead to intelligent beings, and how long any civilizations might last before becoming extinct.”
Even few years ago two top astronomers from the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute (SETI) appeared in front of the congressional House Science and Technology Committee excitedly mentioned that, extraterrestrial life most certainly exists and humans will evidently discover them within the next 20 years.
What if we are thinking too mainstream? What if we have the wrong concept about life? May we just got lucky that, life was able to form in such condition in earth. There might be other secrets about the essential conditions for harboring life and consist of different element. On which type of part of galaxies’ we never have looked into.
