DOT Desk: People of the city are facing drinking water crisis as the underground water level here is gradually decreasing, reports The Daily Observer.
Many deep tube-wells in the city are damaged.
As a result, the crisis of pure drinking water in the city has become acute.
Source said, to set up a tube-well in the city, it is necessary to get approval of the concerned authorities including city corporation and WASA. However, if it is not very urgent, the tube-well will not be allowed to be set up.
Meanwhile, many tube-wells in the city have been damaged as those are old. Locals urged the authorities concerned to repair the damaged tube-wells.
Locals of Ward No. 6 of the city said a tube-well located near Para Medical College was damaged about six to seven months back. As a result, they collect drinking water from neighbouring areas.
Locals further said, before the tube-well was damaged at different times, the residents of this area collected money and repaired it with their own initiative. But this time, it is not possible, so the locals are in danger.
Locals have demanded repair of the tube-well as soon as possible.
