Dhaka city dwellers are leaving the city for the countryside en masse ahead of the upcoming general election on Sunday. The rush for home began on Thursday, reported The Daily Star, as both Friday and Saturday off make an ideal three-day holiday to visit their countryside homes. Many of the dwellers are voters of their home districts; thus they must travel back to their home districts to cast their ballot and exercise their franchise. People were seen gathering on all Dhaka exit points on Thursday. In fact, Gabtoli, Kamlapur and Sadarghat were teeming with people since Friday morning.
