Sheikh Hasina introduces AL candidates for Dhaka

    Awami League President Sheikh Hasina yesterday introduced her party’s candidates for the constituencies of Dhaka in the upcoming general election.
    She came up with the move while addressing an election campaign rally- at the Youth Club grounds in the Gulshan 2 area of Dhaka, reports the Dhaka Tribune.
    The candidates prologued are Salman F Rahman for Dhaka 1 constituency, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal for Dhaka 12, Sadek Khan for Dhaka 13, Md Elias Uddin Mollah for Dhaka-16, Akbar Hossain Faruk for Dhaka 17 and Advocate Shahara Khatun for Dhaka 18.
    Awami League mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation Atiqul Islam also accompanied them on the stage at that time.
    Seeking vote for ’boat’, Sheikh Hasina, also the prime minister, said: “’Paddy Sheaf’ only stands for corruption, money laundering, misappropriating of orphans’ funds while ‘boat’  represents development of the country and welfare of people. ”
    Dhaka north city unit of Awami League organised the rally as part of the ruling party’s campaign programs for the parliamentary polls slated for December 30.
    Top leaders of the ruling AL-led alliance are also attending the rally. Law enforcers have taken extensive security measures in and around the area centering the rally.
