DOT Desk : Bangladesh win the first ODI against West Indies by five wickets after a well-disciplined performance from the bowlers and the batsmen at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. Skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza led the charge with the ball, picking up three wickets while Mustafizur Rahman bagged three as well, reports The Daily Star.
Tigers faced a bit of turbulence early in their chase of West Indies’ score of 195 but the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim kept his temperament to see the Tigers through to victory with a 70-ball 55.
Mushfiqur strikes 50
Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has been in brilliant touch after a little difficulty at the start of his innings. Some deliveries did gain up on him but he played a very level-headed innings as the Tigers are close to the shores of victory. Mushfiqur’s 59-ball 50 was laced with five fours. 29.2 Bangladesh 175/5. Soumya Sarkar played some lovely shots as Bangladesh go closer to victory. He hit Oshane Thomas for two fours and a six in the 29th over but falls in the the next over, edging Roston Chase to the man at slip as Bangladesh lost their fifth wicket.

Shakib falls after 50-run partnership with Mushy

Shakib picks up a run on the final delivery of the 25th overs as the fourth-wicket partnership between him and Mushfiqur reached fifty. After the fifty partnership, Shakib fell to Powelltrying to drive hard but managing to nick the ball through to the wicket-keeper as Bangladesh lost their fourth wicket. Bangladesh need 50 more runs for victory with Soumya Sarkar at the crease.
Shakib hit consecutive boundaries off Keemo Paul in the 21st over to see Tigers cross the 100-run mark. The left-hander has a knack for starting well and he has not held back agianst the Windies bowlers so far. Mushfiqur at the other end has been quietly resilient as Bangladesh need 79 more runs for victory from 27 overs.

Tigers opener Liton Das falls to a rash shot off the bowling of Keemo Paul as he tried to play across the line to a delivery that darted in slightly. Bangladesh need a further 107 runs for victory as Shakib Al Hasan comes to the crease. The left-hander started his innings brightly, hitting Paul for a boundary on the third delivery he faced.
Bangladesh reach 68 for 2 after 15 overs
Opener Liton Das has faced upto the West Indies bowlers after the loss of Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes. Young Windies pacer Oshane Thomas caused a lot of trouble with his pace — bowling at 148 km/h at times – but Liton has so far been able to thwart the youngster from grabbing more wickets. He defended well but did not get bogged down in his 48-ball 31 run knock so far even as Oshane managed to go past the edge of his bat a couple of times.
