Nineteen readymade garment workers were injured in an attack by transport workers in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka, yesterday, reports The Daily Star. Three transport workers — Saiful Islam, Rashedul Alam and Bodir Uddin– were arrested from the scene in connection with the attack, reports our Savar correspondent quoting Hasan Al Mamun, a sub-inspector of Savar Model Police Station.
Around 65 RMG workers were going to Ahmed Garments Factory near Gabtoli in the capital when their bus driver got into a quarrel with a truck driver in Ulail area of Savar, reports our local correspondent quoting the garments workers.
Following the quarrel, the truck followed the bus and forced it to stop near a CNG filling station. When the garments workers tried to protest, around 40 transport workers joined the truck driver and started beating the RMG workers who were inside the bus, RMG workers claimed.
The injured workers were taken to Savar Upazila Health Complex where they received first aid.
