Some 78 more aspirants, including 21 of BNP, yesterday got back their candidatures as the Election Commission (EC) declared their nomination papers valid after hearing the petitions for the second consecutive day.
Besides, the Commission rejected 65 petitions and kept decisions pending over seven other petitions, reports UNB.
The EC, the appellate authority, heard a total of 150 petitions yesterday.
Earlier on Thursday, the first day, the Commission heard some 160 petitions, declaring 80 nomination papers valid.
With the latest development, some 158 contestants got back their candidatures in the last two days. The three-day hearing will end today.
