Believe it or not, India has been developing at a very fast pace for past few years. Both in the economic and educational sites. They are thought to be largest modern IT technician suppliers in the world. Few of their city has rapidly improved overtime, despite the fact of high population. Now to that, they are adding Overhead Taxi Pods in New Delhi. This will of course be a relief from the heavy traffic. Also the amazing fact is that, these pods are going to be driverless. Quite a nice way to travel around, also could be great time saver.
Other than government, the city is mostly run by corporations. It has become a city that is always at rush. After all, it is the Capital of India. India’s federal government has been thinking about this for some times now. That first of the pods decided to set above the roads of New Delhi and Gurgaon. Basically, they are collecting Metrino Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) Pods. They are very much determined about the Gurgaon’s PRT Pilot Project. Also announced to open bidding to the global corporations for funding this week.
India is aiming big right from the start. Not only there will be 16 stations over eight-mile span, but also 1,100 pods in operation at the same time. As, each pod should carry 5 passengers, there will be 5,500 passengers receiving the service at a given time! Though it is expected to costly to ride on them. That way, it is hardly to imagine there will be any long waiting lines at the start of the elevated track. The pods will even run at 40 mph. But people with high valued times will be very much pleased as well. VIPs will actually be free of the traffic burden who are often moving around this great city. It may cost around $136 million. Which is expected to be quite heartily funded by these VIPs as well. The authorities are even ensuring that, the investors will get back their money within 25 years just from the ticket sales.
