Noted Rabindra Sangeet singer Anima Roy backs country recently after rocking Brisbane and Canberra—two Australia cities. She has performed there in two distinguished concerts organized by ATN Canberra and has enthralled thousands of audience by her mesmerizing Rabindra rendition.
Anima has delved herself into Rabindra Sangeet over two decades with much austerity. Beyond the country, earlier she has performed in several shows in Singapore and India. This time she wins hearts of music- enthusiasists in Australia. In Brisbane, the concert was hosted by Society of Bangladeshi Doctors- Queensland, an association of doctors in Australia. Borisha Dhora Majhe Shantiro Bani, Sakhi Bhabna Kahare Boley, Era Shukhero Laagi—these songs were in the artist’s list in the concert. In Canberra, Anima’s list includes O Aamar Desher Mati, Aami Kaan Pete Roi, Majhe Majhe Tobo Dekha Pai and more. The Canberra concert was organized by ATN Canberra, an initiative by three Bangladeshi youth Ashiq Hossaain, Tareq Safa and Newton Muhuri.
In sharing of her Australia experience, Anima Roy says, Performing beyond the homeground definitely brings a different delight. Especially the expatriate Bangladeshis longs there for Bangla song events. “An artist wants the audience in front of the stage to express unison with; and I find it surfaced in Brisbane and Canberra”, she says reminiscing the soirees.
Anima’s latest album ‘Praner Majhe Aye’ hits the audio market November last year and was cordially received by the Tagore song-lovers of the country.
