A tribunal here on Thursday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for raping a minor girl in Patharghata upazila in 2009.
The court also fined the convict, identified as Babu, son of Kuddus of Lathimara village in the same upazila, Tk 1 lakh.
According to the prosecution, the convict violated the four-year girl, a resident of the same village, on March 13, 2009.
Victim’s mother Rahima Begum filed a case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000 on the day.
