If you believe in yourself and your abilities success will always be within your reach, in the same stance if you believe that you will flunk at whatever you do then yes, you will. Research at the LSU shows that people who believe in themselves tend to use their brain more in a metacognitive effort; this is great but when you attach expectations to your abilities and the abilities of others the picture starts to deteriorate. And the tricky thing about expectations is that once projected they are contagious and very hard to stop or change. When we believe in someone, we treat them better than the people we expect to fail, we give them more opportunities to succeed, we give them more helpful and accurate feedback and finally we help them in more ways because we believe it’s time well spent. In medicine, this is called the “nocebo” effect. Expectations effect reality and can change a person’s life both emotionally and physically. Here are a few situations that crop up almost every day at every moment and how can you avoid it.
People are often told that life is unfair, things will happen but it will be alright in the long run. Why do you have to wait for things to righten themselves? Take charge and get back on your own feet, never expect things to go your way or righten themselves, instead believe in yourself and do you own stuff.
One of the most important things to do in life is take reasonable risks and find your niche or just get out of your niche. You have to make your own things happen with your efforts, no one is going to hand it to you on a golden platter. Not everyone is going to like you, accept the fcat and move on. If you begin to think that everyone should like you, you’re putting unrealistic epectations on your own shoulders which will be an added pressure. Instead why dont you just focus on being the best of who you can be and earn peoples trust and respect. On the same note, not everyone’s going to agree with you even if what you’re saying is right. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinions so let them have it. People might have a hard time understanding what your trying to say, this happens most of the due to the fact that we leave out essential details while explaining certain things because we think them to be irrelevant because we already know it. So instead, when saying something, try to be concise and clear. Remember, if you expect to fail you will, it’s all a fact of mind over matter, if you believe you can you will. Don’t expect things to be better in the future and just fall into your lap, if you don’t fix what’s wrong now you will end up regretting later. There are times when we think we can ‘fix’ someone, change a habit or help them but why focus on someone else when you would better spend your time, helping yourself and making yourself a better person.
All in all, what we intend to say is that you are the master of your own life and control how you lead it. Take advantage of this and make it great.
