A violent storm ripped through the Khulna city and district on Tuesday night, damaging several thousand thatched and tin-shed houses, uprooting a huge number of trees and destroying standing Boro paddy on thousands of acres of land.
Electricity in the city and district was cut off for nearly 20 hours disrupting normal life and rotting huge quantities of fish and other foods in refrigerators.
The storm shattered the International Trade Fair of Khulna (KITF) leaving over 50 people injured.
