Five people were killed in separate incidents of reported gunfights in three upazilas of Bandarban and Cox’s Bazar districts yesterday, reports UNB.
In Bandarban, police recovered bodies of three people from Baishari in Naikhongchhari upazila in the morning.
The deceased are Anwar Hossain alias Anaia, 27, son of a certain Abdus Sobhan of Chainga Bazar, Parvez Hossain Bappi, 23, son of Syed Hossain of Eidgar Kodalia Kata and Abdul Hamid, 23, of Gorjonia Borobil area.
The three were listed robbers and they might have been killed in a gunfight between two groups of robbers for establishing supremacy in the area, said Superintendent of police in Bandarban Zakir Hossain Majumder.

Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Maheshkhali police station said Mohammad Karim Prokash, alias Mahmud Karim, son of a certain Yusuf Ali was killed in a gunfight with police in Shaplar Deba area of Maheshkhali.
After the gunfight, police recovered the body of Karim from the spot, he added.
In Teknaf, Imran Hossain Prokash, son of a certain Azizul Haque of Paschim Sikdarpara, was killed in reported gunfight with them in Dorgarchhora.
Ranjit Kumar Barua, officer-in-charge of Teknaf police station, said when police conducted a operation there, the drug traders opened fire on them, prompting them to fire back.
After the drug traders fled the scene, the police team spotted the bullet-hit body of Imran, the OC said.
