Desk Report: The authorities yesterday suspended 11 Chittagong University students, belonging to Bangladesh Chhatra League, on various charges.
Proctor Ali Asgar Chowdhury disclosed the decision at a press conference.
Mahmudul Hasan Rupak of English department was suspended for one year for beating a journalist on September 10.
Sabbir Hossain and Rajibul Alam of history department and Taimur Hossain of marketing were suspended for two months on the same charge.
Amat Uddin of history, Ibrahim Khalil of public administration, Salauddin Sazzad of Islamic history and Liptan Das of physics were suspended for two months for beating two students on September 9.
Kawsar Ibne Kashem of botany and Rifat Hasan of marine science were suspended for six months over stealing a laptop and a mobile phone from a dormitory on July 30.
Samdani Rahman Jiku of modern language and linguistics was suspended for one year for beating two students and a guardian on March 29.
They will be expelled if they are found involved in any other offences, said the proctor.
