Partial Payment of compensation to Injured Passenger of Us Bangla BS-211 Plane Crash 12 th March 2018

    The Us Bangla Fight number BS 211 that crashed due to the perilous landing at the premises of Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on March 12, 2018 has been the highlight of every news media in Bangladesh. The mournful event seized the heart of every citizen of this country and the bereaved families of the occurrence have been grief stricken ever since the accident took place.
    The tragedy can be recognized as one of the darkest moments in the history of the Aviation Sector in Bangladesh, much like the 1984 F-27 crash near Zia International Airport in Dhaka. The statistics of the event report includes the demise of 47 passengers and 4 crew members along with 20 injured passengers Amidst the 47 deceased passengers, 27 were Bangladeshis and amongst the 20 injured passengers, 9 are Bangladeshi who faced death but lived to fight another day.
    The task of processing the compensation on behalf of the families of both the deceased and the survivors was assigned to the law firm FM Associates in Bangladesh, led by insurance and aviation expert Barrister Al Amin Rahman, Managing Partner along with his team members who have sincerely endeavoured in liaising with the affected families, insurer of the airline company i.e US Bangla in dealing with the dispersion of the compensation money to the rightful heir of the deceased and the injured.
    Mr Eakub Ali, one of the survivors of the Plane Crash who has been diagnosed with several physical injuries including injury in the head, fracture on his jaws, hip injuries etc. which he has developed since the accident has requested for an early partial payment. On the 25th September 2018, FM Associates upon approval from the Insurers of the Airline Company sanctioned an early payment of USD 10,000 or equivalent amount of BDT 8,27,500 Eight Lacs Twenty-Seven Thousand Five Hundred) at the premises of FM Associates. In the picture-the cheque was handed over by Barrister Al Amin Rahman, Barrister Wajed Jamil and Barrister Zayeema Khan to the injured Mr. Eakub Ali.
    On 6th August 2018, FM Associates have successfully disbursed full and final compensation of amount of USD 50,000 which is equivalent to approximately BDT 42,00,000 (Forty-Two Lacs), to the legal successors of 06 (six) deceased Bangladeshi passengers (Md. Nuruzzaman, S M Mahmudur Rahman, FH Priok, Foysal Ahmed, Prithula Rashid & KHM Shafey) and to 01 (one) injured Bangladeshi passenger (Sheikh Rashed Rubayet) so far.
    There was an outflow of preliminary advance payments distributed by FM Associates, upon the confirmation and authorization from the insurers of the Airline Company in order to assist the bereaved families and/or the injured passenger to meet their medical expenses or to eradicate any financial hardships. –Press release
