We can’t help everyone. But everyone can help someone

A while back I was having lunch at a food court. The woman in the table next to me gets a phone call and then starts to cry. She is trying hard to stop but there was no holding back those tears. I asked her if she was okay. She said she didn’t get the job. She has tried everything and everyone and it’s been over a year she has been unemployed. Then she says, “I am in this deep dark hole and I don’t see a way out, I am trying to get out but I don’t know how to.”

The continuous rejection she endured had beaten her down. I took the time to encourage her. Then I told her to send me her resume and I’ll see what I can do. I forwarded her resume to some of my colleagues. She got an interview, was offered a job and accepted. Last week she emailed me so thankful with an update on how this small gesture changed her life.
