BNP won’t be able to wage demo before polls: Quader

M Humayun Kabir: BNP will not be able to orchestrate any movement before the national elections, said Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
“BNP has lost its throne and now it is building castle in the air to wage movement which will not be fulfilled,” he said, reports The Daily Star.
While addressing an election rally in Karnaphuli upazila as part of its electioneering in South Chattogram, Quader said BNP could not stand on the streets for 10 days in the past 10 years.
“The party (BNP) used to say they will launch movement after Eid-ul-Fitr or Eid-ul-Azha but how many Eids have gone by in the last 10 years? Yet there has been no movement,” Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said.
“Failing to wage any movement on their own, they wanted to cash in on the quota reform movement and they failed. Then they tried to infiltrate the students’ movement for safe roads and they failed again,” he alleged.
“Then they spread rumours that four students were being raped in AL’s Dhanmondi office, which was eventually proved to be spurious. Even some media carried out news that one of the students’ eyes were gouged out. These I call simply terror-mongering,” he also said.
“We have to prevent these terror-mongering.”
Regarding national unity process issue, the AL general secretary reiterated that there can be no such unity keeping his party aside.
“The unity, they are talking about, is a nationalist and communal one and nation will not accept it.”
