Desk Report: WaterAid Bangladesh launched a mobile app which can locate the position of public toilets and provide details about them, reports Daily Sun.
The app named “Public Toilet Bangladesh” is now available in Google Play Store.
Information on whether a toilet has separate chamber for men and women or whether it is disabled-friendly is available on the app. Image of toilets could also be viewed.
Local Government Division senior secretary Dr. Zafar Ahmed Khan launched the app at a city hotel. Information and communication technology secretary Zuena Aziz and country director of WaterAid Bangladesh Khairul Islam were also present at the launching ceremony.
In his speech, Khairul Islam said commuters, especially women, children and the elderly in cities have difficulties finding public toilets. The app will help ease suffering, he said.
Around 1200 public toilets of Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet and Khulna have so far been listed. More public toilets can be added by providing details about them.
