Climate change has caused recent cause for concern as researchers have now claimed that the covering of icecaps are have hit record low values.
This dramatic change will cause ripples to run amuck throughout the world. According to NASA, who have been accumulating data on how much the icecaps have been melting, last year’s maximum was the lowest we’ve had in the last 40 years.
The ice plays a big role in reflecting the rays of sunlight, it sends about 80% of the rays back. However, with the decrease in amount of the rays reflected back, a lot of it is now absorbed by the water which ends up humidifying the temperature of the oceans resulting in global climate change.
According to the research, we have already lost “two Texases worth of sea ice” in winter and it will be much worse in the summer.
There will be grave repercussions following this as scientists already count global warming to be a looming threat at this moment.
