Kabir Humayun: Envir-onment & Forests Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud yesterday said tourists in Bangladesh will be banned from staying at the Saint Martin’s Island during night time to preserve its environment.
“All preparations have been done. It will come into effect within few days,” he said, reports Banglanews24.com.
The minister was addressing a program on occasion of publishing the annual evaluation report of the World Bank at hotel Sonargaon.
Among others, environment ministry additional secretary Majnurul Hannan Khan and World Bank program leader Sanjay Srivastava attended the program.
The 8 square km-long St Martin’s Island located in the northeastern part of the Bay of Bengal is one of the attractive and picturesque tourist spots in Bangladesh.
